I'm going ahead and building a pair of left and right coaxial speakers for my sitting room. The above box was built using the same crossover (XO) as the Volt 10 speakers so I'm just going to use the same XO that was designed for a smaller box. I know I should go off an model things in WinISO but I don't have the knowledge to do all that stuff yet.

This is going to be a trial and error design and see what I can pick up along the way. I will be crossing the speaker over at 80Hz or above so not looking for massive amounts of bass.Where these designs are for the Eminence Beta 10cx I'm going to be using the Beta 12cx as I have two of them in my garage. I also have a pair of ASD1001 compression drivers which I going to test one speaker with while I purchase a PSD:2013S with matching XO to test the other. I'll buy the Eminence stock XO for the 12cx and ASD1001.In 'NWCgrad's design there's two crossovers.

One for the 8ohm PSD:2013S-8 and one for the 16ohm PSD:2013S-16. Not sure which I'll go for at this stage but from that thread the 16ohm XO was designed for a bigger box. Might not make a difference really. That's really where I am now.

Have the cabinet sketched out and I'll get it drawn up properly. In the mean time I'll try and figure out about the 8ohm or 16ohm drivers. All comments and opinion welcome! I'm building 2 identical cabinets for now.

For

Cabinet 1 will house the Eminence Beta 12cx with the ASD1001 and stock Eminence XO. I'll also have two Dayton SD270-PR passive radiators. Cabinet 2 will house the Eminence Beta 12cx with the PSD:2013S, either 8ohm (NWCgrad XO) or 16ohm (billy boden XO). Again it will have two Dayton SD270-PR's. I'll be using the XO's which have been designed for the 10cx and planning to play with it a bit and see if I can understand XO design and workings to make it work for the 12cx.So the plan is to test the two cabinets against each other and the better sounding setup will get the other speaker changed to match. Also I want to compare them to my trio of Monitor Audio Apex 40 speakers. That's my current thinking anyway. FWIW you're likely to save yourself rework, or a undesirable outcome, down the line if you model it.

I would say he did in that thread as he pitched it between the 2 extremes. For toe in, for an optimal outcome measurements are the way forward. To give you an example, I've started out planning on aiming both speakers at the LP but the mains don't need it (the directivity is so consistent that it makes v little difference) whereas the coax looks like it will strongly benefit from being somewhat off axis as this helps aligns the phase response and avoids some ugly choppiness in the FR up top.
